For the transverses abdominus, the vacuum is the most common exercise whereas crunches are used to firm the rectus abdominus. The side muscles of the stomach can be strengthened using side crunches or side bends with dumbbells.

- Blood sugar levels: An unstable blood sugar level ultimately affects your ability to burn fat. To stabilize your blood sugar, you should eat the right meals and avoid starving yourself.

Eat a lot of fruits, vegetables, nuts, whole grains and lean proteins. With a healthy diet, your blood sugar level will prevent any fat build up.
